PARTING SHOT

Jun Jacolbe is not my mentor. Not even my idol. I don’t really know the man. But he transformed the way I view photography forever. Unwittingly.

One day not too long ago, I sat on a banquet table across this gray-haired gray-goateed stranger, eavesdropping on his conversation with another guy about black and white street photography, Vivian Maier, etc.

Cut a long story short, my snooping led me into a much more arresting world of photography — Street Photography. (This site has become testimony to my photographic transformation if you will.)

Last summer, I messaged him kumusta?

“Ito ang payat na. Ipag-pray mo ako.”

That was to be our last exchange. In the Ghost Month, the man succumbed to the Big C.

Maraming salamat po for twisting my universe of discourse.
