After descending the Flower Mountain we rode back to the Tourist Center with this baiju thing as our subject matter along the way. Can’t help it if the mouth waters everytime booze is the issue. That is why as soon as we got to the Center we headed straight to this souvenir shop which sells baiju but only for a cut-throat tourist price. Issa, my ever gung-ho friend from Palestine, scored a liter but wouldn’t grant us a drop! Luckily we have a most generous host in Weinan’s City Official who arranged for a dozen of our now favorite Great Wall wine. It felt like it rained in the desert.
The next thing I know we’re collapsed on our seats inside this Performance Hall at the foot of the Huashan Mountain, weary from the day’s tour and all tanked up watching this archaic Chinese traditional opera called the Old Tune Shadow.
