The first light blasted off the RUN FOR THE PASIG RIVER at the Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City last Sunday, October 10, 2010 (10-10-10). This is my 2nd photo-biking Sunday and I just had to take a few shots and pedal my way out of the place before the “stampede” gets me. (Tried a little FAKE high dynamic range imaging (HDR) for these shots actually)
This run-for-a cause was organized by the Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig of the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. to create awareness amongst all sectors of the Philippine society for the full rehabilitation of the once majestic Pasig River.
The event also aimed to make it to the Book.
But I must be true here now: I don’t believe this advocacy run will break San Francisco’s world record of 110,000 runners at the Bay to Breakers race in 1988. This Run for the Pasig River may have registered a total of 116,000 (plus) finishers but, and this is a big BUT, as I saw it, almost half of the participants , maybe more, are not actually runners and therefore are merely on their early Sunday morning stride. Turns out this is one big advocacy walk.
In any case, this is a one major undertaking worthy of a salute!
