Once in a while a movie worth noting. Its always my belief that being glued to the plasma screen is such a waste of time. Not this time. “TAKEN” is like a two-hour roller coaster ride! Never a dull moment. From the ex-wife’s sarcasm to a one man’s demolition of the heinous underworld.
Liam Neeson is Bryan Mills, a retired CIA killing machine, paranoid from all corners of the world, and, whose crafts and skills remain perfect despite the age. Very much like a Jason Bourne plus twenty or so years. Goes on a killing spree in Paris in search for his beloved daughter, Kim(Maggie Grace), kidnapped by a band of Albanian human traffickers. The thought of sex slavery, drug addiction and prostitution that would befall on the 17-year old lass within a span of 96 hours created a monster out of the sweet enigmatic father that he would “tear down the Eiffel Tower if he had to”! Violence and savagery in its full extremity exploded halfway through the end as Bryan, bruised and battered, finally recovered Kim, sold for 500grand, from the claws of a maniac sheik.
Two things got me into this picture and made my blood pump to a headache level: Liam Neeson is simply superb he will make you feel like you were in his shoes. Plain and straight, no cheeky lines, he portrayed the ferocious father effortlessly maybe awkward, but the rampage brings a fulfillment for bloodthirsty audiences. The other thing is, the socio-political statement of this film regarding the worldwide evil of human trafficking. What’s impressive is the boldness of the film’s producers to hit this international issue without playing safe. Unlike every movie plots we have nowadays. Unfortunately for the Albanians, they were caught at the receiving end.
Bravo. To those in favor of a sequel raise your hands..
